Located on the outskirts of the Appomattox–Buckingham State Forest, C.H. Morris & Sons, LLC has deep roots in central Virginia and a long-standing commitment to sustainable farming. The Morris family has been raising cattle since 1965, building an operation that is recognized nationwide for high-quality genetics and dependable production cattle. The registered herd began in 1986 with the use of a Gelbvieh sire on commercial Angus females, making the Morris family one of the foundation Gelbvieh breeders in the Commonwealth. Today, the operation has evolved into a black Gelbvieh and Gelbvieh Balancer herd focused on practical, performance-driven genetics designed to meet the needs of the commercial cow-calf producer.
The operation consists of approximately 120 cows that calve primarily in the fall. C.H. Morris & Sons specializes in producing deep-bodied, high-growth cattle known for their longevity and strong maternal traits. Bulls are marketed directly off the farm, while females are sold through the Buckingham Cattlemen’s Association Bred Heifer Sale, and steer calves through the Buckingham Cattlemen’s Feeder Calf Sale. This direct involvement with customers allows the Morris family to better understand real-world production needs and continuously refine their genetic strategies to improve customer profitability.
From the beginning, C.H. Morris & Sons has remained committed to strict performance standards and has been an active participant in the Virginia Bcia Bull Test program. The herd has been recognized by the American Gelbvieh Association for outstanding females, with multiple Dams of Distinction and Dams of Merit on record. Under the leadership of owner and operator Roger Morris the operation continues to focus on producing reliable, high-quality cattle while honoring its family legacy and contributing to a strong, sustainable future for the beef industry.

Our purpose is to raise and market high-quality Gelbvieh and Balancer cattle with proven performance, maternal strength, and longevity, helping cattle producers improve efficiency and profitability while practicing responsible, sustainable agriculture

Our vision is to honor our family’s agricultural background while leading the industry with powerful, advanced cattle genetics that deliver growth, longevity, and maternal strength, supporting a sustainable and profitable future for other beef producers like us.
